Hair Obsessions restyles salon at new location
For owner Maria Richards, Hair Obsessions, located in Port Richey, is the realization of a life-long dream.
Richards, who moved to the Tampa area in 2004, said she has wanted to be a hair stylist since age five. “I just love making people look good and feel good,” Richards said.
Hair Obsessions, a full-service Paul Mitchell Signature Salon, has been in operation for 30 years. Since taking over as its third owner 9 years ago, Richards has seen the business continue to grow and expand.
The salon relocated in September 2011 to 5713 Richey Drive, Port Richey, after several successful years in New Port Richey. Richards said the move has enabled her and her staff to provide an even broader range of high quality services to current and new customers alike.
The new salon, which was designed and built by Richard’s husband, Colby, features six hair stations, as well as a make-up station and open color bar.
At Hair Obsessions, Richards leads a staff of five stylists who offer treatments including coloring and highlights, Paul Mitchell’s Awapuhi Wild Ginger treatment. Richards said that the salon strives to give clients exactly what they’re looking for and welcomes bridal groups and parties. Walk-ins are also welcome.
The staff at Hair Obsessions offers all of their services at affordable prices and without compromising on quality. Richards herself is a veteran stylist and color specialist with nearly 20 years experience. A Sayerville, N.J., native, she was certified through a vocational program in East Brunswick, N.J., and has trained in New York at both Paul Mitchell and Redken.
“We’re nice and friendly and we try to give customers affordable style in the Tampa Bay area,” Richards said.
